Sherlock Publications is a privately owned media company dedicated
to property in London and the South East. It began in 1995 as publisher
of Hotproperty, which quickly emerged as a market leader for those
looking to buy or sell property in the region. By presenting Hotproperty's
content via the internet as well as in print, Sherlock Publications
showed its willingness to embrace digital platforms in the continuing
effort to be as accessible to readers - and as attractive to advertisers
- as possible.
The success of this weekly publication laid the groundwork for further
titles. In August 2002 Sherlock Publications introduced Hotproperty
local, which publishes titles focusing on both property and lifestyle
in areas of west and north-west London. The title underwent a redesign
in September 2003, at which time it was renamed essential living.
And in February 2003 a further title, called Renting, was launched.
Renting, with its emphasis on the rental market in London and the
South East, had immediate success, both with its target readership
of tenants and its business clients.
Sherlock Publications continues to explore ways to increase
its market share, through both the improvement of its existing titles
and the introduction of new ones.
